Crypto: The Musical

The cryptocurrency is already on Broadway

Cryptocurrency is all around the world, but only not on Broadway. Cryptocurrency in movies, TV shows, news and books, but not in musicals. Now, the situation has absolutely changed, because the crypto has already established a foothold on Wall Street for presenting the new musical on Broadway. We are used to the digital world around ourselves. Some people accept the new world with cheerful greetings, some people resist and refuse to accept. The same story was with the smartphones in the beginning of 2010s and continuing now, but only with crypto and digital assets. From the 18th century, people were going to watch and enjoy the most beautiful performances in one of the first theaters in New York City on Nassau Street. Like most people who appreciate art and performances, I am always inspired by the musicals of Chicago and The Lion King, The Phantom of the Opera and Les Misérables. But the time was given to us to move and change, but don’t forget the simple truth- time is changing too. That’s why people are flying to space, looking for information on the Internet and going on musicals about cryptocurrency.

Introduction

According to the NewsBitt:

💭“Crypto: The Musical,” the first DAO-funded Web3 musical to hit Broadway, kicks off. As stated in his Webit is a proposal of the marketing agency Serotonin and behind the project is Amanda Cassatt, the woman who brought Ethereum to the world stage. Funds to finance production will be raised through the DAO MusicalDAO, with the launch of 1,500 NFT, which represent theater seats. The NFTs will be offered for a minimum value of $1,000 in stablecoins such as USDT and USDC. The goal is to obtain a first collection of 1.5 million dollars”

Investors who purchase “Crypto: The Musical” NFTs will be able to reserve tickets and VIP seats, as well as access other exclusive benefits. For example, a meeting with the performers of the musical production and the director, appearing in the production credits or making a cameo on stage has a cost of $200.00.

The story is set around Zoe, a woman who decided to leave behind her corporate life in TradFi to immerse herself in the world of cryptocurrencies, a woman who leaves her corporate job to join a crypto startup, “and the many absurdities, heartbreaks and triumphs she experiences along the way”, through a crypto startup. The numerous experiences that Zoe lived in said company will be shared through stories and songs.

Movie Coin, the alternative to Netflix that allows you to finance movies with DeFi and NFT.

💭There’s a lot of little things in there where if you know, you know, and if you don’t, it’s just a song. Our character, Zoe, is also not a Web3 person at the beginning of the show, so an audience member who is also not a Web3 person learns along with her. The goal is that you never feel that you are forced to learn.”

Designed by Amanda Cassatt, already famous for having contributed to the global adoption of Ethereum through an appropriate marketing campaign, it will see the participation of Daniel Mertzlufft and Macy Schmidt (Ratatouille The TikTok Musical). Production will be entrusted to the Serotonin agency already active on the front Web3, in collaboration with Cliff Hopkins (formerly Instagram) and Dori Berinstein, a well-known name in the field of musicals. This is the concept, according to what is reported on the pages of the official website.

💭“Imagine the history of cryptocurrencies meeting the comedy of the Book of Mormon, the heart of the Revenge of the Blondes and the realism of Hamilton. Crypto The Musical tells Web3 to existing fans and a whole new audience, with the story of a woman fleeing traditional finance to join a crypto startup and the exhilarating roller coaster ride that follows.”

Producing a musical doesn’t come cheap, so Cassatt — the CEO of Web3 marketing agency Serotonin — turned to the crypto community for help fundraising.

Cassatt set up MusicalDAO, a self-described decentralized autonomous organization that allows donors to contribute to the project’s funding in exchange for pre-sale tickets and other privileges, including naming a character or making an on-stage cameo. A minimum donation of $1,000 — paid in either stablecoins USDT or USDC — is required to join the DAO. Once the DAO reaches 1,500 individual contributors, membership will close, and the project will go before Broadway investors to get the real cash it needs to debut.

Investors and those interested in “Crypto: The Musical” have up to 4 options to support the development and production of this musical project. The first of these requires an investment of $1,000 USD. The last one, an investment of $200,000 USD. MusicalDAO’s fundraising goal is $1.5 million.

Cassatt is hopeful that “Crypto: The Musical” can thrive in the bear market anyway.

“I think in this market, selling things to audiences at a million-dollar price point isn’t always the right thing, but I think reaching people where they are and bringing in more supporters at a grassroots level…makes a lot of sense,” Cassatt told CoinDesk.

“To do something entertaining and interesting and off-the-beaten-path — I think this is the kind of lightness that the community needs and wants during this time,” she said.

According to Fortune “The project’s executive producers, composer Daniel Mertzlufft and Macy Schmidt, were part of the team behind the delirious pandemic spectacle, “Ratatouille: The TikTok Musical.” Cassatt’s new company, Serotonin, a Web3 marketing agency, will produce “Crypto: The Musical” alongside two Tony Award-winning producers.

Crypto-themed songs, including one about the Howey Test — a legal metric for determining what qualifies as a security — and another about NFTs, called “Right Click Save” will provide the soundtrack for “Crypto: The Musical.” Even the project’s ostensibly non-crypto songs are dripping with crypto references; in a love song sung by the main character, she references being “tethered to a stable man.”

It’s not the first time producers have used different types of media for integrating the cryptocurrency. There are huge amounts of crypto shown on Youtube where people can educate and know more about the blockchain and the system of cryptocurrency work. But not only educational blogs are exciting on Youtube, also a kind of entertainment shows are broadcast on this platform. One of them is the Gagarin show, which is an entertainment and educational show about cryptocurrencies. It was created by the team of crypto exchange WhiteBIT.
